Marimer Berberena Alonso
Marimer Berberena Alonso is a PhD student in the Africology department at Temple University. With a Master’s degree in Latin American, Caribbean and Latino Studies from the Graduate Center of CUNY, her thesis consisted of the Gagá (Rara) in New York City and the initiative of the hermandad cultural Gagá Pa’l Pueblo as a means of healing, community, and resistance by mainly Dominican migrants in the United States. Her academic interests lie in all that bounds Afro-Indo-Latin America, the African contributions to Latin America and the Caribbean such as Santería, Rastafari livity, culture-making processes, political-spiritual manifestations, social history theory, to mention a few. Her teaching profile includes the teaching of Caribbean culture and society, Sociology, and Africology. She has been part of community groups and projects such as Gaga Pa’l Pueblo, Mexicanos de Rostro Desconocido, and smART ACTion.

Tarik Richardson
Tarik Richardson is a Ph.D.. candidate in the Department of Africology and African American Studies at Temple University. He is currently completing his dissertation focused on the discussion of culture and identity in East Africa. He is also an active member of the Association for the Study of Classical African Civilization Mid-Atlantic region.

Stacey Allen
Stacey Allen is a dance artist and educator in Houston, TX living with her husband and three beautiful children. Stacey earned a BA in Dance from Sam Houston State University and a MA in Cross-Cultural Studies for University of Houston Clear Lake where her research focus includes dance anthropology. Stacey has been a dance educator for over 10 years. From a variety of life experiences including motherhood, Stacey began her newest artistic endeavor- Nia’s Daughters Movement Collective.
